The purpose of
creating Town Center design guidelines is to create a distinct focal
point that provides an authentic identity for the community. The
City’s Comprehensive Plan provides goals and policies calling for a
well designed, pedestrian friendly and community-oriented town
center. The City staff with help from Makers Architecture has
developed a draft of new design guidelines and standards for the
Town Center that are intended to help new projects contribute to the
community and complement adjacent development.
The draft is
based on concepts found in the Town Center and Meridian Avenue
Corridor Master Plans and the public’s feedback from open
house/workshops held April 27 and June 15, 2006. Additionally,
associated amendments to Edgewood Municipal Code are being
considered in order to help implement the Town Center design
guidelines and standards.
