Where can I find meeting agendas and packets?

Meeting information is listed on the Meetings and Events Calendar page.  Once an agenda/agenda packet has been approved and distributed it is linked to the web, typically 3-5 days before the meeting.  Please check the Meetings and Events Calendar 24 hours prior to a meeting for cancellations or revisions.

Who are my Councilmembers?

All seven City Councilmembers are here to serve you.  The City Council's web page has pictures of your Councilmembers and their telephone contact numbers.  Other information on the Council's webpage include their Vision Statement, Council Rules of Procedure, Council Code of Ethics, and a link to email the Council.

Are there other regular City meetings?

Planning Commission:  The City Council established the Planning Commission in 1997.  The Planning Commission meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.  Some of the duties assigned to the Planning Commission's include providing recommendations to the Council for development and review of the Comprehensive Plan; periodically reviewing and recommending adjustments to the zoning map, table of permitted uses and development regulations. If you have questions regarding the Planning Commission, contact Community Development Director Eric Phillips.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board:  The City Council established the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) in 2006.  Their  meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM.  The PRAB is tasked with studying the recreational needs of the citizens of Edgewood and making recommendations to the Council concerning those needs.  To learn more about Edgewood's parks, visit the Parks and Recreation web page.  For more information regarding the PRAB, contact Administrative Services Manager Bonnie Valens.

Economic Development AdHoc Advisory Committee:  The Council established the Economic Development Adhoc Advisory Committee (EDAC) in 2010 and their first meeting was held on March 17, 2011. It is estimated that the EDAC will complete their mission within a 12-month period, which may be longer or shorter depending on the need.  The EDAC meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month at 5:00 p.m.  This Committee is tasked with identifying and making recommendations to the City Council on economic development opportunities, incentives, existing regulatory road blocks to economic development, and marketing strategies specifically targeted at the Meridian Commercial Corridor within the Sewer LID boundary.  For questions about the EDAC, please contact City Manager Mark Bauer.

How can I request City records?

If you would like to view or receive copies of City records, which includes, for example, correspondence, plans, permits, and Council, Committee or Commission meeting materials, you may complete and submit a Request for Public Records form.  It is important to read all of the information on the Request for Public Records form and be as specific as possible so that the City can provide the correct information. Once your request is received, the City will contact you within five business days regarding your request.  There is no charge to view the record at City Hall; however, there is a charge to cover the cost for copies per the City's current Fee Schedule.   Records that require a fee will not be released until the fees are collected.

If you are requesting a large amount of information, such as a building or planning file, unless you're certain you need a copy of the entire file, you may opt to view the file first and flag the information you would like to have copied to avoid paying for items you may not need. Some records can be scanned and  emailed to you.  There is no fee for this service, as the per page fee covers the paper and copy machine costs.  Because the City is limited on the size of document that can be scanned/copied at City Hall, anything larger than 11x17 must be sent out to be copied.  Whatever the costs are incurred from the outside company that makes the copies will be passed on to you.

The City's Disclosure of Public Records policies can be found in the  Edgewood Municipal Code (EMC) Section 2.50.  You can  learn more about the public disclosure act in the Revised Code of Washington Chapter 42.56

How can I review or obtain a copy of a public record?

In order to view or request a paper or electronic copy of a City record, you must submit a Request for Public Records form.  The City accepts requests via fax, email, US mail or hand delivered. Please be sure to be as specific as possible in your request. Copies can be furnished at a fee of  15 cents per 8 1/2 x 11 page, per side.  Larger copies require a hire fee to cover the cost. Documents  larger than 11x17 must be sent out to be copied - actual cost for copying will be charged. Whenever available, electronic copies can be sent via email at no cost.  There is no charge to view documents at City Hall during regular business hours.  The City responds to those making records requests within 5 business days of receipt of the request.  Depending on the size, availability and staff time required to fill your request, you may or may not receive the documents requested within that 5-day period.  The City can only provide existing documents and cannot create documents to fill a request.  Some documents are not subject to public disclosure.  The City's Disclosure of Public Records policies can be found in the  Edgewood Municipal Code (EMC) Section 2.50.  You can  learn more about the public disclosure act in the Revised Code of Washington Chapter 42.56
