Call 911 for the following:
To report an emergency or any in-progress crime
Events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property. An in-progress crime such as a fight, break in, or a report of an impaired driver. A serious crime that just occured such as an assault or robbery. A suspicious circumstance that may indicate an imminent criminal act, such as a prowler or vandal.
Any fire, even a tiny grease fire in your kitchen can grow and spread rapidly, so call right away even if you think you can put out the flames on your own.
Call 911 immediately for any life-threatening medical problem. These include chest pain, choking, difficulty speaking, drowning, numbness, poisoning, sudden intense pain, severe burns, a suicide threat or any other serious medical problem.

Reporting a crim with no suspect
Example: theft of a license plate
Reporting a crime with a suspect, but the suspect is not present
Reporting a serious crime with a suspect, but with a lengthy delay
Example: Assault that occurred last night at a bar

On-going crime issues or crimes that are not in progress

Example: Suspected drug lab
