Tips

Adjust your thermostat.
Set the air conditioning at 76° during business hours and 85° when your building is unoccupied. During the winter, set the heat at 68° when your building is occupied and 55° after hours.

Turn off unused lights, equipment, and appliances.
Save energy after hours or when your building is unoccupied.

Track your energy performance.
PSE’s online account management tool can help your business track energy use and take advantage of other free resources and rebates.

Maintain and clean appliances and equipment regularly.
Routine maintenance helps keep equipment working efficiently and safely.

Switch to Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs).
CFLs can save you up to 70% in energy costs and last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs, reducing energy and maintenance costs.

Choose efficient lighting, equipment, and systems.
Look for ENERGY STAR® qualified products, programmable systems, and occupancy sensors. PSE offers many rebates for commercial improvements.

Install low-flow faucet aerators.
Cut water use in sinks by up to 50% to save money and energy from heating water. Inexpensive aerators with a flow rate of 1 gallon per minute or less are available at most hardware stores.
