The City of Edgewood (“City”) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from professional consulting firms licensed under the laws of the State of Washington who wish to support the City’s completion of the design and permitting for Phase III of the City of Edgewood’s Interurban Trail (Jovita Canyon site). This project is for the 1.0-mile missing link of the Interurban Trail, extending east from the City's current trail head at 114th Ave E and terminating at West Valley Hwy and Jovita Blvd E. The trail is planned to be 12' wide with 2' shoulders wherever practicable, generally following / parallel to Jovita Blvd E within City-owned property and right-of-way along the north side of the road and connecting to recent work completed by the City of Pacific ending at Stewart Rd via a sidewalk under SR-167.
The Interurban Trail is of significant regional importance. The north section of the trail extends 24 miles between Everett and Seattle through the communities of Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, and Lynnwood. The approximately 19-mile south section of the trail connects the cities of Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, Algona, and Pacific, with two unattached segments in Edgewood and Milton that follow the old railway corridor toward Fife and Tacoma. This trail provides recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike who utilize the trail for non-motorized activities, connecting multiple cities, with many utilizing the trail to bike to work. The construction of this missing link will provide for a safer network by completing an east-west active transportation network connection, allowing users to stay off Jovita Blvd E, a busy arterial roadway.
SOQs must be received by March 7, 2023 at 4:00pm.
