The city has an annual herbicide spray and vegetation maintenance program, but we recognize that some residents prefer to maintain the roadside vegetation next to their property. Because f that, Pierce County Public Works offers an alternative to city-initiated vegetation maintenance.
These signs can be purchased by residents, for a nominal fee, for installation along the road in front of your property. Both signs would prevent application of herbicide by the city, but the green stripe would allow for mechanical trimming by a flail mower / brush cutter. Be advised, however, that participation is voluntary, and the city remains obligated to maintain dangerous and/or encroaching vegetation as appropriate. Please contact Jeremy Metzler, Public Works Director, with any questions, and see the County’s website for more details: https://www.piercecountywa.org/1752/Owner-Maintain-Program.
